The King Sejong Institute

The Silk-Road Universities Network (SUN)
Established in 2015, SUN is a collaborative platform that brings together universities from countries along the historic Silk Road. With its headquarters at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea, SUN aims to foster academic and cultural exchange among its member institutions. The network’s mission is to revive the spirit of the ancient Silk Road by promoting mutual understanding, peace, and cooperation through higher education.
SUN organizes a variety of programs and activities to achieve its goals, including academic conferences, cultural festivals, and student exchange programs. These initiatives provide opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaborative projects. By facilitating these interactions, SUN helps to build strong academic partnerships and enhance the global competencies of its members. The network also publishes the “Silkroadia” webzine, which features articles on cultural heritage, research, and educational developments along the Silk Road.
As a key player in the international higher education landscape, SUN is committed to addressing global challenges and contributing to sustainable development. The network actively supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting inclusive and equitable quality education. Through its diverse programs and initiatives, SUN continues to strengthen the bonds between universities and communities along the Silk Road, fostering a more interconnected and resilient academic community.
