Joint Academic Meeting between the University of Isfahan and Tsinghua University on Expanding Mathematical Cooperation
A joint academic meeting between the University of Isfahan and Tsinghua University was held on Tuesday, 29/02/1405, with the aim of exploring and strengthening scientific and research collaborations in the field of mathematics.
Tsinghua University is widely recognized as one of the leading universities in Asia and the world. In major international rankings, including QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it consistently appears among the top 20 universities globally. The university is particularly distinguished in the fields of mathematics, engineering, natural sciences, and technology, making it a highly prestigious academic partner for international collaboration.
The meeting was attended by the renowned mathematician and Fields Medal laureate, Professor Shing-Tung Yau, whose presence highlighted the significance of this academic engagement and its potential for advancing high-level scientific cooperation.
During the meeting, the Director of the Office for International Scientific Cooperation at the University of Isfahan presented the university’s academic capacities, research strengths, and international potentials, emphasizing its readiness for comprehensive scientific, educational, and research collaboration with Tsinghua University.
Subsequently, the representative of internationalization of the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics introduced the research strengths of the faculty and outlined potential areas of collaboration, particularly in applied mathematics and interdisciplinary research fields.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the University of Isfahan expressed its readiness to host a joint scientific event with Tsinghua University and proposed establishing structured frameworks for faculty and student exchange programs between the two universities.
It was further agreed that the University of Isfahan would formally present its research areas in applied mathematics to the Chinese side, followed by a series of specialized academic meetings between faculty members of both universities to define joint research projects. In subsequent stages, possibilities for academic mobility and student exchange programs will also be explored, a proposal that was received with positive interest.
