Dr. Najmeh Hosseini Monjezi Elected as Young Member of TWAS

Dr. Najmeh Hosseini Monjezi, an assistant professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Isfahan University, has been elected as a Young Member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in the field of Mathematics.

TWAS is a prestigious international organization dedicated to advancing science in developing countries. Founded in 1983 by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Prof. Abdus Salam, its headquarters are located at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. Currently, TWAS has over 1,400 members from 100 countries, including 11 Nobel laureates, all chosen based on their scientific and research excellence.

Dr. Hosseini Monjezi completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics at the University of Isfahan and earned her Ph.D. in 2019 from the same institution. She has since been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Isfahan and the Institute for Fundamental Science, and she has been a faculty member of the School of Mathematics and Statistics since 2023. Last year, she was recognized as one of the top recipients of the Maryam Mirzakhani Prize from the Iranian Mathematical Society and has also received awards from the National Elite Foundation, including the Dr. Chamran and Dr. Shahriari awards.

Her research interests encompass nonsmooth optimization, non-convex optimization, numerical algorithms for solving optimization problems, optimization on Riemannian manifolds, and machine learning. Recently, Dr. Hosseini has focused her research on the numerical solution of nonsmooth non-convex optimization problems and the application of optimization techniques in machine learning and data science.
