Responsibilities and History of Activities

By trusting in Allah, the Almighty, the All-wise, and by seeking His succor, and in line with satisfying the transcendental goals of the sacred regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and according to the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei (Long may he live), in order to perform one's duties to the Islamic Revolution and the exalted martyrs of Islam, satisfy the cultural goals and motivations as stipulated in the text of the Constitution and in other ministerial rules and regulations in relation to propagating the culture and knowledge of the pure Muhammadan Islam (Peace be upon him) and reasonably and fundamentally confronting the decadent cultural assault, and by observing all the legal requirements, the Vice Chancellor for Social and Cultural Affairs of the University of Isfahan was established.

The general goals of this Vice Chancellor in relation to satisfying the subtle cultural norms and values of the Islamic Republic of Iran especially with a view to students are as follows:

To propagate and strengthen the transcendental Islamic culture and stress the spiritual values and ideals of the Islamic culture;
To promote contribution and cooperation among students in the fields of culture, arts, social affairs, science and so on;
To publicize and popularize all the arenas of culture, arts, and free cultural and social activities at the university;
To pave the way for the active and committed presence of students in all cultural and artistic activities, train bright individuals, exploit the leisure time of students, and preserve and propagate the authentic Islamic culture;
To base cultural and artistic activities on the Islamic rules and requirements, create cultural and artistic recreations, establish active religious, cultural, and artistic student centers and institutions for confronting the decadent cultural assault in the world.

Culture and cultural centers have long been an influential part of the society in the world. Universities as the main influential centers for creating, objectifying, and propagating cultures have always been at the center of attention.
The subtle role of culture has often been stressed by the great people of science, religion and politics, the Great Leader of the Islamic Revolution and His Supremacy Ayatollah Khamenei(Long may he live), to name a few.[1] As universities function in three areas of education, research and culture, it should be noted that the latter function is of utmost importance. Production and reproduction of culture at the university level, which is often intangible, exerts great influence on the society, individuals and especially the young generations. In other words, in order to fulfill the cultural function of the universities as one of the most important influential institutions in the society, the active, lively, volunteering, and spontaneous presence of individual students along with the universities can simultaneously help to realize the full scientific and cultural capacities of the society and pave the way for innovations, creativity, and the intellectual, moral, and socio-cultural enhancement of individuals.

The Vice Chancellor for Social and Cultural Affairs of the University of Isfahan officially started its activities in September 2010 under the respective by-law legislated by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. From the outset, The Vice Chancellor for Social and Cultural Affairs has managed to perform considerably well under competent management and with assistance of experienced and empowered staff at the university so that the University succeeded to rank as the superior university in the cultural arena in 2011-2012, the first university in the arena of Islamic Awakening in 2011, and the superior university in creating Free Thinking Chairs in 2013. It also obtained other ranks in other areas of scientific associations, journals and so on.

Among the key activities of The Vice Chancellor for Social and Cultural Affairs are the development of the Five-Year Strategic Document, from September to September, Hijab and Chastity By-law, Free Thinking Chairs Internal By-law, Cultural Strategic Plan of the provincial universities, etc. according to the guidelines of His Supremacy Ayatollah Khamenei(Long may he live) especially according to his view of the elite university communities.

The Vice Chancellor for Social and Cultural Affairs, on the one hand, strives to promote interaction and knowledge transfer between the different internal departments of the University and the external parties such as the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Isfahan Governorship, the Headquarters of Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil of the Province, and other provincial universities, and on the other hand, strives to enhance the socio-cultural atmosphere of the university by reducing authority orientation and increasing student orientation at the university level in all the universities of the Province.
